Abstract
The main methods of search of malfunctions of electric equipment of rolling stock are considered: organoleptic method,
parametric analysis, probability-time method, split half method (chord method), the logical method of diagnosis, method
of applying graph theory. It has been determined that the greatest effect can be btained through the creation and implementation
in each locomotive depot of diagnostic tools based on computer technology and improvement of the system of
scheduled preventive repairs, as well as the transition to the repair of locomotives according to the actual technical condition.
