BioVis contest

Abstract

In organizing this inaugural contest, we decided to go out on a limb and try something risky - we developed the contest around a biological "grand challenge", rather than around toy data with easy, known, correct solutions and easy, deterministic judging criteria. We planned for this contest to be messy, hard, and ugly - in essence, just like the real-life data that we built it around.
