Capturing, eliciting, and prioritizing (CEP) NFRs in agile software engineering

Abstract

Non-Functional requirements (NFRs) are neglected and Functional Requirements (FRs) are often favored more in developing agile software. Neglecting NFRs has adverse consequences that result in lower quality of software and expensive process in later iterations in developing software. Developed CEP “Capture Elicit Prioritize” methodology to retrieve Non-Functional Requirements from requirements documents and diagram/images contained in the docs. Validation of this research was done by using 26 requirements docs from European Union eProcument. As previous research, the baseline data is from the NORMAP methodology. The NERV methodology was used to compare the data. CEP methodology linked NFR Metadata (NFRM) with figures and images found in the requirements documents to similar requirements in order to improve over previous research.
