Abstract
a miniature size antenna for biomedical applications is proposed in this study. Due to the high dielectric constant of the human body, designing a wideband antenna which is miniature in size and also covers the triple band, is a very challenging one. A single layer PIFA with thin short pin structure, the three consecutive bands 915 MHz ISM band, 1.43 GHz WMTS band and 2.45 GHz ISM band with 100 MHz, 180 MHz, and 200 MHz bandwidth are obtained. The overall dimension of the proposed antenna is 64mm3 while covering such ultra-wideband with remarkable gain for three different bands. Coating with 0.5mm Macor layer, the proposed antenna has characterized inside three-layer phantom. For the three consecutive band, S11 has been recorded -18.5dB, -20dB, -21.5dB with gain -18.9 dB, -21.3 dB, -9.7 dB. Finally, the specific absorption rate (SAR) value has been measured with CST voxel model.
