FOR THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF PROFESSOR E. E. TARMAKHANOV (DETAILS OF THE SCIENTIST'S BIOGRAPHY)

Abstract

The article discusses the issues concerning the date and place of birth of Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor E. E. Tarmakhanov. Based on historical sources, we have identified his exact date of birth. Relying on information from autobiographical materials, memoirs of relatives and colleagues of the scientist, official documents published on the Internet, monographic studies, research papers of Professor E. E. Tarmakhanov, we have formulated and reasonably substantiated the thesis about the exact place of birth of the sci-entist in accordance with the territorial division that existed at that time. The article is based on the following historical sources: archival documents from the fund of the Lenin-grad State University, the works by E. E. Tarmakhanov dedicated to the history of Burya-tia, Ust-Orda Buryat Autonomous Okrug, and his small small motherland — Irkhidey, as well as information from the official websites of Administration of the Municipality of Irchidey and the Municipal Budgetary Educational Institution “Baldunnikov Irkhidey Secondary School”. Our conclusions are important from the perspective of the individual peculiarities of the personality of Professor E. E. Tarmakhanov, his worldview and values, which determined the significant contribution of the scientist to the development of histor-ical studies in Buryatia.
