Abstract

Biomaterials are substances of synthetic or natural origin that replace and / or stimulate biological systems that no longer have their functions, for example: the restoration of tissue functions. In view of the antioxidant potential of norbixin (dicarboxylic carotenoid found in Bixa orellana L.) and from the biodegradability and biocompatibility of polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) (natural polymer synthesized from bacteria) and ethylene glycol, it was aimed at preparing membranes of PHB and PHB/Norbixin/ethylene glycol, for healing purposes, and characterize them through Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), x-ray fluorescence (FRX), Thermogravimetry Analytics(TGA and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). It was obtained homogenous membranes with spectra of the characteristic functional groups and good thermal stability of the samples. The presence of norbixin and the addition of ethylene glycol rather interfere with the physicochemical characterization of PHB Key-words: Norbixin. Polyhydroxybutyrate. Ethylene glycol. Polimer.
Polyhydroxybutyrate。 Polimer。
