Abstract

A novel all-optical demultiplexing system which is insensitive to the state of polarization of the input signals as well as to their drift in polarization is simulated. The technique employs a modified nonlinear optical loop mirror configuration to demultiplex 50 GHz pulse train into 10 GHz. The gain of an erbium-doped fiber amplifier is varied between 14 dB and 21 dB using a feedback signal from the loop output ports to achieve polarization independent complete switching.
