Keynotes speech 1: Smart factory: The 4th industrial revolution

Abstract

The economy is on the brink of the 4th industrial revolution. Driven through the internet, real and virtual world grow together to form an internet of things. Internationally, Industry 4.0 stands for the digitalization of industry and production. The talk will explain what is behind the concept of innovation Industry 4.0 (i.e. Smart Factory). Theoretical design background and industrial production examples will be provided to show how industry 4.0 are being used today and how it will be used in the future. Industrial design principles will include interconnectivity, information transparency, human-machine interaction, and decentralized decisions. Practical examples from the German industry will be provided.
