Women in Computer World of the USSR and Russia

Abstract

In the early 1950s, the first electronic digital computers were developed and built in the USSR. Among the first computer specialists, mathematicians who became the first programmers, there were also women who worked not only as ordinary engineers and calculators, but also became leaders. They took part in the development of devices for the first electronic computers, were engaged in the mathematical formulation of problems and programming for them, were pioneers in mathematical linguistics. Their achievements and contribution to the common cause were often very significant.
