1 Only a few years ago, children's books were published in this country in editions of only five or ten thousand copies. Now we're talking about editions of a hundred thousand or even a million copies. How did this happen? Have our books become ten or even twenty times more interesting? No, this is the result of universal literacy. The navigating channel for literature has been widened and deepened.
