Spectrum requirements for smart grid applications: A Colombian Case Study

Abstract

This paper presents the use of the radio frequency spectrum in the electricity sector in Colombia, with its various applications, management models, and mission-critical telecommunications. Furthermore, a prospective analysis for Colombia is also presented, analyzing the future demand for the spectrum and the operational impact of the selected spectrum bands. Finally, different alternatives for these bands are identified and discussed.
