Perturbative QCD and semihard processes

Abstract

Abstract It is shown that pert. QCD is able to describe the main properties of the hadron interactions at very high energies, including the behaviour of the total inelastic and diffractive cross sections. The inclusive spectra of secondary hadrons are governed by the production and fragmentation of the gluon minijets with transverse momentum qt∼qo , which grows with energy as q2 t ∼q 2 o∼ A2exp(2.5√lns). Thanks to this fact one can apply the pert. QCD to discuss the processes, which are usually considered to be “soft”.
