Abstract

The author discusses the use of integrated services digital network (ISDN), broadband-ISDN, and fiber distributed data interface (FDDI) link protocols aboard ships. Connectionless services and connection-oriented services are compared, and their appropriateness for use in a tactical environment is analyzed.
