Abstract
Many applications are using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) to find the information by using Spatial Queries on specified Spatial Database. The result of these traditional queries can be improved by inclusion of fuzzy techniques. This paper describes the improvement in result by traditional queries by use of fuzzy techniques. The commonly used adjectives can be embedded to queries to give them natural wordings so that any person can understand and use it easily. These wordings are defined mathematically as per the situation and accordingly calculation is done using fuzzy techniques. The results so found are better than the conventional one. For example the traditional query is like “Find the Medical Aid with in 1 KM around Point P”. The deficiency in this query is that it will yield the result after matching exactly 1 kilometer around Point P. There is possibility that any important Medical Aid is missing which is 1.1 kilometer apart. To improve result query can be modified like “Find the Medical Aid Near by 1 KM around Point P”. By using fuzzy techniques we can improve the query and get the better results. This paper is an approach towards such techniques.
