Abstract

The directivity patterns in the entire observation space, and the directive gain of the symmetrical vibrator antenna in the direction of normal to the antenna in free space are calculated over a wide range of antenna lengths. The values of the global maximum of the directive gain of such an antenna was found to be Dm=3.3 on its length 2l=1.27λ. The directivity characteristics of a vibrator antenna placed parallel to a planar infinite screen are optimized for maximum directive gain by varying its height above the screen from 0.1 to 3.0 wavelengths. It is shown, that for a height h=0.25λ above the screen, the maximum of the directive gain in the direction normal to the planar screen reaches the value Dm=10.8, and for a height h=0.75λ, it reaches the value Dm=11.7.
