Abstract
This note briefly describes functions which can be performed by some developments of iterative r.o.m.-based multipliers and similar systems. It substantially extends the work reported in our earlier letter, which itself extended the iterative digital cellular r.o.m.-based multiplier of Chung and Bedrosian. Details of the earlier extension, and of the new work, may be found in an NPL Report, the purpose of this note is to indicate in essence what is described more fully therein. Although fast monolithic 16-bit multiplier circuits are now available, there are many processes which a user-programmed iterative system can be made to do, which are not offered by commercially available v.l.s.i. units.
