What UXers Do and Earn: Findings from an Exploratory Survey of UX Professionals

Abstract

In this paper we analyze the results of a survey completed by UX professionals who work in a North Carolina technology hub. We find that collaboration is an integral part of UX work and that the breadth of the work performed by UX professionals may present curricular challenges for technical and professional communication programs. A single UX course may not sufficiently prepare students for the number of diverse work tasks performed by the typical UX professional in this region.
