Abstract

We present a wideband, flat-top, optical add-drop filter using an apodized sub-wavelength-grating contra-directional coupler on a silicon-on-insulator platform. Our device achieves a >30 nm wide, flat-top drop-port response, centered at 1545 nm, with an extinction ratio >20 dB.
