Practical Experience of The Dependability Case to Deliver Real World Benefits – the Initial Case

Abstract

The UK Ministry of Defence developed the Reliability Case (subsequently the dependability case) as a methodology for gaining confidence that new systems and equipment will be reliable when entering service. Recent experience has demonstrated that it is also a valuable tool in the early stages of procurement helping to ensure that the requirements are, understood, relevant and are likely to give the warfighter what is truly required.
