Abstract
Mark has been given some grants from two foundations (The Scaife Foundation in Pittsburgh and the Earhart Foundation in Ann Arbor) to underwrite papers focussing on two particular topics. One deals with the two seminars in Vienna during the 1920s (one was run by the younger Menger and, as Roy Weintraub described in a recent issue of the Journal of Economic Literature, was responsible for the introduction of much of the modern mathematical emphasis in economics; the other, run by Professor von Mises, was built strongly on the subjectivism of the earlier Menger-Boehm Bawerk-von Wieser seminar). There will be some papers written by "genuine" i.e., present Austrians, as well as some papers dealing with the work of those who were strongly influenced by the seminars. Among the latter are papers dealing with the work of Lord Robbins and the late Fritz Machlup.
