The electrolysis process causes electrochemical wear of the anodes such that they have to be replaced after a certain time. Due to very diverse conditions at different electrolysis plants, the lifetime of those anodes varies from 1 to 7 years. The superordinate target of the research work is to analyze the reliability of the anodes. The lifetime of the anodes can be determined experimentally by analyzing their corrosion rate under certain process conditions. Abstract
