Abstract

Systems engineering is increasingly being used in the automotive product development to ensure consistent orientation to stakeholder needs. In order to increase efficiency and minimize development risk, requirements derived from the stakeholder needs can be partially reused. However, Systems Engineering does not describe specific procedures for the consideration of existing requirements as references in new vehicle projects in accordance with PGE – Product Generation Engineering. The aim of the contribution is therefore to describe an approach for the reuse of requirements in accordance with stakeholder needs in the framework of ASE – Advanced Systems Engineering. To this purpose an analysis of the specifying process in the Early Phase of PGE in automotive product development and a systematic literature review of existing approaches to the reuse of requirements are conducted. Based on this, four phases are described that allow the product developers to systematically apply systems-engineering-based reuse of requirements in accordance with stakeholder needs. An exemplary application of the procedure in automotive product development suggests the success of the approach in practice.
