Abstract
The authors study the effects of queueing on a dynamic channel assignment scheme. They examine the performance of a queued ordered dynamic channel assignment with reassignment (QODCAR) scheme in a highway microcellular environment using simulations. Results show that queueing can improve the channel utilization and lower the probabilities of blocking a new call and call handoff failure. At a grade of service of 0.05, QODCAR achieves a 43 and 12 percent improvement in teletraffic load carried over fixed channel assignment and queued fixed channel assignment respectively.<>
