Abstract
The present study investigated the relaxation effects of shoulder massages by machine on EEG power spectrum as shoulder massages could reduce stress and had good effects on people's bodies. The study also compared the EEG power spectrum both before and after the shoulder massages by machine. The samples included five healthy participants aged 30–50 years. All participants received the shoulder massages by machine for 30 minutes. The power spectrum were individually measured with the lightweight electroencephalogram (EEG). The measurement results were analyzed in order to calculate means and standard deviations as well as compared by using the paired t-test. After the experiment, the means of the alpha band was significantly changed at the significance level of 0.05 (p = 0.01). The means of the delta, theta, and beta bands were not significantly changed at the significance level of 0.05. Therefore, the shoulder massage by machine might be significantly relax for the people's bodies.
