Abstract
Transformers are a fundamental and essential constituent of Electrical distribution and transmission system. Condition based health monitoring of electrical transformers for fault occurrence can prevent costly overhaul interruption of smooth power supply. Currently available systems, for the health monitoring of transformer, are based on parameter analysis and cannot conclude the health of a transformer based on its operational performance. Transformers are also very expensive constituent of electricity distribution system, as is the cost of power interruption. The electric power distribution companies worldwide have shown great interest in health monitoring of transformers, which can potentially improve efficiency, reliability and economic sustainability of the production and transmission of electricity. Under the scope of this project, a system is being developed that can reflect the health of transformer during its operation, enabling corrective measures to be taken before minor issues turn into major faults.
