Abstract

In this paper we describe the main stages of design and the procedure of calculating the basic parameters for three-dimensional modular microwave beamformers using the example of an amplitude-phase microwave converter. The possibility of using the modern CST Microwave Studio CAD system for calculating the electromagnetic characteristics of a three-dimensional modular amplitude-phase microwave converter is demonstrated. At the end of the article, the electrical and mass-dimensional characteristics of an amplitude-phase microwave converter of a 3D-modular and traditional (planar) designs are compared. The approach used to design the 3D-modular amplitude-phase microwave converter can also be recommended for the development of the other microwave beamformers.
