Creating paths for clinician-scientists

Abstract

Clinician-scientists combine clinical expertise with a background in research, and so are ideally placed to both treat disease and understand the underlying mechanisms. With the numbers of clinician-scientists in decline, the BITRECS programme has been established to help train the next generation and foster the scientific leaders of the future, as Elías Campo explains.
