Abstract
The thermal transient effect of a Y-cut langanite (LGN) resonator and a Y-cut langatate (LGT) resonator is measured with various rates of linear temperature-time ramp. The resonators are vacuum-sealed in two-point-mounted or four-point-mounted enclosures. The nominal frequency of the resonators is 10 MHz 5/sup th/ overtone (OT) and the modes from the fundamental to the 7/sup th/ OT are measured. The results show an improvement over AT-cut quartz resonators. The dynamic thermal sensitivity coefficient of the 5/sup th/ OT two-point-mounted LGT resonator is only 15% of that of 5 MHz 5/sup th/ OT AT-cut quartz resonators.
