ROLE OF MGNREGA FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT OF WOMEN (WITH SPECIAL REFERENCE OF NEARBY VILLAGES OF AMBIKAPUR CITY)

Abstract

MGNREGA is an ambitious scheme providing employment to rural people of India. The Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005 (MGNREGA) is an INDIAN labor law and social security that measure aims to guarantee the “Rights to Work”. The achievement of inclusive growth and overall development is highly dependent on the gender equality and prosperity of women in the rural society. This paper explains the potential of this program and its role in individual performance on gender equality. 10 Panchayats of Ambikapur city of Surguja district of Chhattisgarh has taken as a sample for the study. The study focuses on the role of MGNREGA of economic development of women in nearby village of Ambikapur city.
