Abstract

In this paper, methods of tunable Mach-Zehnder (MZ) modulator set-up in a Tunable Transmitter Assembly (TTA) have been investigated. Firstly the basic theory of the MZ modulator is introduced, and then there is discussion of MZ characterization in a Tunable Compact MZ modulator module (TCMZ). Secondly, dynamic control methods for accurately setting up the operating point for the MZ modulator during TTA AC test have been presented.
