Abstract

A compact dual-band textile antenna operating in the 3.5-GHz WiMAX band and the 5.8-GHz industrial, scientific, and medical band, is proposed for wearable devices. The dual-band operation is activated by using different modes. The antenna has the advantages of good human shielding function and achieves a rather small dimension of 43.8 mm × 43.8 mm × 2 mm (0.51 λ0 × 0.51 λ0 × 0.02 λ0) by adopting a quarter-mode substrate integrated waveguide structure.
