RF Data Conversion for Software Defined Radios

Abstract

Modern RF communications systems entail high speed A/D and D/A converter with digital signal processing. While data conversion can be performed directly at RF, there are many obstacles to overcome, and we are far from being able to directly connect the data converters to the antenna without gain and filtering. This tutorial will explore the consequences of RF data conversion, and various considerations of their usage for successful implementation in RF transceivers.
