Abstract

A Metamaterial inspired dual-band filtering antenna is designed to cover both the WLAN 2.4 GHz and WiMax 3.5 GHz bands. The resonators of the dual band filter contain a half wavelength open-loop structure and placed closed proximity of the feeding section. The antenna is composed of two parts. One is a printed inset fed dipole antenna which covers higher frequency band, and the other is a metamaterial mushroom structure, which covers lower frequency band. By integrating the filtering section of the band pass filter to the metamaterial inspired dual band antenna, the filtering antenna exhibits similar dipole radiation pattern in both bands and also minimized the spurious radiation.
