Abstract
In the present paper, a description of the developed and operated Er:YAG laser system delivering output pulses of several microseconds in duration and energy up to 10 mJ is presented. The system, being simple and cost-effective solution to the above problem, is composed of the master oscillator and the one-stage single-pass amplifier. The principle of its operation is based on the well controlled free-running generator operated just above threshold. Emitted in this way single pulses or trains of two to five pulses are then amplified
