Abstract

Power differences of arrival (PDOA) methods achieve transmitter localization with a simple signal processing and a low computational burden. After a summary presentation of hyperbolic methods, this paper presents simulation results valid in the UHF band and estimating the positioning accuracy expected when resorting to the weighted least mean squares algorithm. In a second step, a reduced scale experimentation is carried out on an open rural terrain and the accuracy in the transmitter localization appears consistent with predictions.
