Abstract

Ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna elements typically provide great performance about the center frequency of their operation, but require overly large geometry to cover the low frequency edge of their bandwidth. Here, we have utilized a shunt inductor and series capacitor to enhance the low frequency resonance from the ultrawide bandwidth antenna element and its ground plane. This allows for effective coverage of all Long Term Evolution (LTE) bands from 600 MHz – 6 GHz in a 25×32×1.6 mm surface mountable antenna element, suitable for Internet of Thing (IoT) applications.
