Abstract
In this paper, we investigate the characteristics of the Rayleigh surface acoustic waves in one-dimensional layered structures which consisting of a thin isotropic layer bonded perfectly to piezomagnetic/ piezoelectric periodic substrate. The explicit formulations of Rayleigh wave dispersion relations in such layered structure with consideration of magnetoelectrically open and shorted cases are derived based on the plane wave expansion method. The band gaps are calculated taking magneto-electro-elastic coupling into account. The influences of material and the filling fraction are discussed in detail. From the result, we can find the width of the open band gap is wider than the shorted case. The analytical method and the results can be useful for the design of the filters and transducers.
