New Data on Philanthus Fabricius Species (Hymenoptera: Spheciformes) from Kuwait with Some Biological Observations

Abstract

Based on literature and newly-collected material, we list a total of five species of the genus Philanthus Fabricius, 1790 (Apoidea) from Kuwait. The subspecies Philanthus coarctatus coarctatus Spinola, 1839, is recorded locally for the first time, while the species Philanthus triangulum (Fabricius, 1767) has new governmental records. The two taxa are illustrated in detail by digital photos. We also provided field observations for P.coarctatus coarctatus and both global and local geographical distributions of all species.
