Panjang jari telunjuk (2D) dan jari manis (4D) telah menjadi perhatian beberapa ahli karena terkait perbedaan jenis kelamin. Rasio 2 D terhadap 4 D untuk sebagian besar laki-laki ternyata lebih kecil daripada perempuan. Tujuan penelitian adalah mengetahui insidensi panjang telunjuk dibandingkan jari manis pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas YARSI. Penelitian dilakukan secara diskriptif terhadap mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas YARSI angkatan 2013/2014, laki-laki dan perempuan berusia 18-20 tahun sebanyak 347 orang. Pengukuran dilakukan secara tidak langsung dari fotocopi telapak dan jari tangan kanan dan kiri. Hasilnya dibagi dalam tiga kategori, yaitu kategori 1, kategori 2, dan kategori 3. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa laki-laki bertelunjuk pendek (kategori 3) dan sebagian besar mahasiswa perempuan bertelunjuk panjang (kategori 1) dan satu orang mahasiswa laki-laki memiliki telunjuk sama panjang dengan jari manis (kategori 2). Dari setiap kategori diperoleh hasil pada kategori 1 sebesar 81% adalah mahasiswa laki-laki, pada kategori 2 sebesar 100% adalah mahasiswa laki-laki, dan pada kategori 3 sebesar 65% adalah mahasiswa perempuan. Disimpulkan bahwa rasio 2 D : 4 D mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Kedokteran Universitas YARSI angkatan 2013/2014 menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar mahasiswa laki-laki memiliki rasio 2D : 4D lebih kecil sedangkan mahasiswa perempuan ratio 2D : 4 D lebih besar . Insidensi telunjuk pendek mahasiswa laki-laki sebesar 15,27% dan insidensi telunjuk panjang mahasiswa perempuan sebesar 45,82%. The length of the index finger than ring finger at someone is a character that is inherited through the genes whose expression by sex influence gene. The length of the index finger (2D) and the ring finger (4D) has been of concern to some experts because of gender -related differences. The ratio of 2 D to 4 D for most of the male is smaller than the female. The purpose of the study was to determine the incidence of long index finger than ring finger on the students of the Faculty of Medicine, YARSI University. Descriptive study was conducted on the students of the Faculty of Medicine, University YARSI force 2013/2014, men and women aged 18-20 years by 347 people. Measurements were made indirectly copy of the palm and fingers of the right and the left hand. The results are divided into three categories, namely category 1, category 2, and category 3. The result showed that most of the male students have the index finger shorter than the ring finger (category 3) and most of the female students have a longer index finger than ring finger (category 1) and one male student has the same index finger length to ring finger (category 2). Of each category of results obtained in category 1 by 81% are male students, in category 2 at 100% were male students, and the third category is 65% female students. Concluded that ratio 2D : 4D the students of the Faculty of Medicine, YARSI University force 2013/2014 shows that most of the male students had a ratio 2D : 4D is smaller while the female students had ratio 2D : 4D is greater.
