Abstract

A novel compact semi-disc MPA with improved impedance bandwidth (SWR <2∶1) has been designed and analyzed. The probe-fed semi-disc MPA with a single shorting-pin is significantly smaller in size than that of the conventional MPAs and is thus suitable for applications in some compact systems. This semi-disc structure may be more useful compared to the circular one due to its diameter radiating edge. The performance of the antenna was accurately predicted using Ensemble software package, which is based on moment method with potential integral equations.
