Abstract
Unintential radiation caused by EMI (electromag-netic interference) trouble-makers has always been a vital issue to deal with. Among them, the radiation from heatsinks is a tough problem. In this paper, a characteristic mode (CM) method is proposed to identify the radiation hot spots for heatsink, and to explain the radiation phtsics. With the proposed method, by applying integral-equation (IE) based method and characteristic mode analysis, the radiation modal from each part of the structure can be quantified using the current. Therefore, the radiation hot spot can be identified. This method facilitates the CM method in real applications.
