Formalizing software architectures: an industrial experience

Abstract

A sofware architecture identifies collections of functional modules shared by a family of products, but does not analyze the specific algorithms used into such modules. The main purpose is to define a precise documentation, identify commonalities between similar products, and combine these commonalities to build a generic architecture. By doing so, we intend to enhance the reuse at the earlier phases of the software development lifecycle.
