Abstract

This article presents the calculating of the risk of damage due to lightning for the telecommunication site (TS); this procedure consists of nine steps to determine the value of the risk of loss of human life (R1) and the risk of loss of service (R2). When these values are greater than the tolerable risk values RT1 and RT2 respectively, it is important to choose the lightning protection measure appropriate to the characteristics of the structure should be selected. In addition, the selection procedure for the surge protective device on the power line includes six steps that meet technical requirements is also considered.
