Abstract

Delaminations are one of possible failure modes for composite compressed structures. From engineering point of view there are two important questions: (i) how it is possible to avoid delamination failure in structures and (ii) how to reduce a propagation of delamination failure mode. In our work we intend to propose a general method of solutions using stacking sequence optimization. Two general optimization problems are formulated and each of them corresponds to the above mentioned problems, and then solved with the use of genetic algorithms. The analysis deals with compressed cylindrical shell.
