Abstract

A pattern reconfigurable antenna utilizing the property of Zeroth Order resonator mode and the half wavelength patch resonator mode has been presented. To excite the TM01 mode of the patch in the same ZOR frequency, tunable Electromagnetic Band Gap (EBG) structures with proper switch selection has been adopted. It is clear from the simulation that both the ZOR frequency and the patch dominant mode frequency can be tuned at 4.21GHz to achieve the pattern reconfigurable antenna.
