With the help of GSM device, fault data is transmitted from auxiliary output contacts of numerical relay to annunciator window located in control room as well as to mobile phone of corresponding sub-station Engineer. Such advanced & new technologies are developed which are useful for making power system as a smart power system. Abstract

The aim of this paper is to design and implement the wireless communication between annunciator window located in control room and numerical relay located at far end in bay control room at switch yard of substation with the help of GSM device and to make available fault data in speech format for easy understanding to operator working in sub-station.
