Abstract

This paper presents a novel three-phase full soft-switching current-fed naturally clamped DC-DC converter intended for high-power fuel cell applications. First, operation principle is described theoretically for one third of the switching period using equivalent circuits. Then, simulation study of semiconductor conduction power losses of the three-phase converter and a single-phase counterpart was presented. The three-phase converter proposed features lower switch RMS current than single-phase counterpart. Hence, it can be recommended for high power fuel cell applications.
