PD measurements in N/sub 2/-SF/sub 6/ gas mixtures

Abstract

For the detection of partial discharges in SF/sub 6/ insulated switchgear several methods have been developed. Before applying these techniques in apparatus which apply N/sub 2/-SF/sub 6/ gas mixtures for insulation purposes it has to be investigated whether the discharge processes in the mixtures make their application possible. Therefore PD measurements with different defects, gas mixtures, gas pressures and PD measurement techniques have been carried out.
