Abstract
A quad band frequency reconfigurable antenna is reported. The antenna has a size of0. 67 λl× 0.67 λl× 0. 13λl, at frequency of 25.25 GHz. The antenna consists of two rectangular slots (R1 and R2) in the radiating patch, which independently resonates at single band and quad band, respectively. The proposed antenna operates at 25.25, 27.97, 31.0 and 33.25GHz, with fractional bandwidth of at 0.71% (25.15-25.33GHz), 1.29% (27.74-28.1GHz), 1.03% (30.85-31.17GHz) and 1.63% (32.99-33.53GHz). Metallic switch placed in the middle of rectangular slot (R2) helps in achieving frequency reconfigurability. When the metallic switch is ON antenna resonates at single band and when the switch is OFF antenna resonates at quad band. The antenna evinces good impedance matching, gain and stable radiations characteristics across their operational bands.
