Abstract

This paper describes an output clamped series thyristor inverter which operates independent of load at a high output frequency (over 20 kiloHertz). The basic operation of the new inverter is compared with the conventional series inverter. The paper also shows that, in the output clamped inverter, the load variation has a negligible effect on the ringing period. Finally, the logic requirements and implementation of an output clamped series inverter system for a portable line operated power supply are discussed.
